An annual week of action, awareness and accountability for the SDGs will be held in New York, US, during the opening of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74). Global Goals Week 2019 will convene under the theme, ‘Action for People and Planet,’ and include the events of the UN Summits Week, comprising the UN-Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit (23 September), a High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) (23 September); the SDG Summit (24-25 September); the 2019 High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development (FfD) (26 September); and a High-level Review of Progress on SAMOA Pathway.
Other Global Goals Week 2019 events include:
- Youth Climate Summit (21 September);
- Social Good Summit 2019 (22 September);
- Global Week to Act for SDGs (20-30 September);
- Private Sector Forum (23 September);
- International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) (24-25 September);
- Sustainable Development Impact Summit (23-24 September);
- Equator Prize 2019 Award Ceremony (24 September);
- Bloomberg Global Business Forum (25 September);
- SDG Business Forum (25 September);
- UN Solutions Summit (25-26 September); and
- AI Sustainable Development Summit (28 September).
Global Goals Week was originally piloted in 2016 by organizing partners Project Everyone, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Foundation.
Global Goals Week 2019 will take place concurrently with Climate Week NYC 2019.
